The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Sekyi-Aidoo Houadjeto, has embarked on a familiarisation visit to the Accra Tourist Information Centre (ATIC), one of the key facilities under the Authority’s management.
During the visit, the CEO engaged with staff across the various offices within ATIC, gaining insights into their operations. She was accompanied by Deputy CEO of Operations, Ekow Sampson, as well as senior directors of the GTA, including Marketing Director Betty Kobi, Corporate Affairs Director Rev. Jones Nelson, Product Development & Investment Director Roberta Dawson-Amoah, and Director of Administration Richard Agyenim Boateng.

ATIC is an important building, housing both public and private sector entities. It serves as the operational base of the Beyond the Return Secretariat, the Tourism Call Centre, and the National Film Authority. Additionally, the facility hosts several private tourism businesses, including VoyagesAfriq, the Tour Operators Union of Ghana (TOUGHA), Kaya Tours, and Naag Travel and Tours.
Following her engagement at ATIC, Maame Efua continued her tour with a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, a major historical site that recently underwent renovations to enhance its appeal to both domestic and international visitors.

Maame Efua Sekyi-Aidoo Houadjeto was appointed by President John Mahama last week to lead the GTA, the country’s primary agency responsible for tourism promotion and marketing. With a strong background in communications, marketing and event management, she is expected to bolster the Authority’s efforts in increasing tourism numbers and improving sector coordination.

Her extensive industry experience includes serving as CEO of Image Consortium, Managing & Creative Director of IE Design, and Acting General Manager of MPlaza Hotel in 2002. She has also demonstrated strong organisational and leadership skills in her role as Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
