Located in the Savannah Region of Ghana, within savanna and riparian ecosystems at an elevation of 150 meters, Mole is Ghana’s largest wildlife refuge. A sharp escarpment forms the southern boundary of the park, adding to its dramatic landscape.
Waterfalls are a rare and unique sight in northern Ghana, and Mole is privileged to have two: the Polzen and Kparia Falls. With a rich cultural, historical, and archaeological heritage, the ancient caravan routes from Mali to Wa and Salaga—once used for both trade and the transportation of slaves to coastal markets—passed through the heart of the park.
